Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer for a secondary school with immediate start. You will provide pastoral support to students and work within the Safeguarding, Attendance and Welfare Team to promote wellbeing and a positive school atmosphere.

The role involves monitoring attendance, supporting safeguarding procedures, and building strong relationships with students, families and external agencies, while handling admin tasks to support welfare requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
• Calm, empathetic and professional approach.
• Ability to build trust and positive relationships with students.
• Understanding of safeguarding practices (desirable but not essential).
• Genuine passion for supporting student wellbeing and success.

Responsibilities

• Providing pastoral support to students across the school.
• Assisting with attendance monitoring and improving attendance.
• Supporting safeguarding procedures and maintaining records.
• Building positive relationships with students, parents, carers and external agencies.
• Managing welfare concerns and signposting students to support services.
• Completing administrative tasks to support safeguarding, attendance and welfare teams.
• Helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
