Job summary

A leading NHS trust in Southampton is seeking a full-time Consultant in Stroke Medicine. You will manage the care of stroke patients while leading a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include running TIA and stroke follow-up clinics, and being involved in teaching. The successful candidate should have relevant experience in stroke care, clinical judgement capabilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality services. Qualifications

  • Prior clinical experience in stroke medicine including thrombolysis and ideally mechanical thrombectomy.
  • Evidence of participating in multidisciplinary stroke unit care.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inpatient stroke care and rehabilitation across the pathway.
  • Lead additional multidisciplinary team members including health professionals.
  • Run daily TIA clinics and monthly stroke follow-up clinics.

Skills

Clinical experience in stroke medicine
Excellent communication skills
Experience in multidisciplinary care
Passion for high-quality stroke care
Ability to work in multi-professional teams

Education

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
GMC registration with a licence to practise
MRCP or equivalent
CCT in Stroke
CCT in General (Internal) Medicine or similar specialty
