Job summary

Mott MacDonald is recruiting for a Lighting Engineer within the Street Lighting team across UK offices including Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, London, Norwich and Southampton. The role focuses on delivering high-quality lighting and electrical designs for major transport projects and involves site surveys, client coordination, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to manage workload effectively and deliver high-quality outputs with supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Conversant with lighting design software, particularly Lighting Reality
• Experience or practical working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of: National Highways DMRB and MCHDW standards, BS5489, BS EN 13201, BS7671 and ILP Technical Reports and guidance documents
• Completed or working towards the Institution of Lighting Professionals Exterior Lighting Diploma
• Registered with the Engineering Council as EngTech and Affiliate Member of the ILP

Responsibilities

• Prepare and contribute to high-quality lighting and electrical designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to support project delivery.
• Undertake site surveys to inform design development and nighttime lighting assessments.
• Develop and maintain strong technical credibility and trusted relationships with clients, contributing to successful project outcomes within collaborative and partnering environments.
• Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering and technical teams, ensuring effective coordination and integration of design solutions.
