Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Lighting Designer to join our Street Lighting team in the UK. Based in Birmingham with hybrid working options, you will contribute to nationally significant transport lighting schemes and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on design, survey, and documentation.

The role requires knowledge of Lighting Reality, AutoCAD, and standards such as DMRB, BS EN 13201 and 7671, with opportunities for professional development and a path toward EngTech.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload and deliver high-quality outputs with supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Conversant with lighting design software, particularly Lighting Reality and AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of NH DMRB, BS5489, BS EN 13201, BS7671 and ILP guidance documents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and contribute to high-quality lighting and electrical designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to support project delivery.
• Undertake site surveys to inform design development and nighttime lighting assessments.
• Develop and maintain strong technical credibility and trusted relationships with clients, contributing to successful project outcomes within collaborative and partnering environments.
• Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering and technical teams, ensuring effective coordination and integration of design solutions.
