Salary : 15.70 - 17.12

Contract Type : Full time - Temporary Contract

Hours : 09:00-17:00

About the Role

Are you someone who takes pride in keeping your community clean and safe? We're looking for a reliable and hardworking individual to join our street cleaning team. In this role, you'll play a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of public spaces across the area. A valid UK driving licence is essential, as you'll be operating council vehicles and travelling between designated routes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Emptying street litterbins and collecting debris/litter on foot or in a vehicle
  • Cleaning public lavatories and other public buildings
  • Sweeping footpaths and channels as necessary
  • Clearing beaches of litter and detritus
  • Grass cutting and strimming
  • Hedge pruning
  • Digging, bedding and planting
  • Hoeing and weeding
  • Using mechanical plant equipment and vehicles to assist teams throughout the District as directed, achieving StreetScene standards and objectives
  • Assist with bin emptying and cleansing for EDDC Events as required
  • Support the Council's approach to equalities and diversity ensuring that our services and policies identify, address and promote the needs of our diverse community, including safety of children and vulnerable people
  • Take personal responsibility for the relevant aspects of the Council's Health and Safety Policy
  • Ensure awareness and compliance with the Council's policies, Code of Conduct and Constitution
  • Evaluate and assist in managing risk within the Service
Requirements
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Good level of physical fitness - this is an active, outdoor role
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, or bank holidays if required
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential - full training provided
