Job summary

Interaction engineering is seeking a seasoned Business Development Manager to drive growth in the structural engineering sector and secure high-value projects. The role emphasizes building key client relationships, leading a BD team, and guiding tender submissions and negotiations.

The ideal candidate has substantial experience in business development within engineering or consultancy, with strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Marketing, Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Ideally 5–10 years' experience in business development or commercial management within engineering, construction or consultancy.
• Proven track record of winning new business and securing high-value contracts.
• Experience managing key client relationships and leading sales teams.
• Strong understanding of the construction and structural engineering sectors.
• Excellent commercial, negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to achieve business growth and revenue targets.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities across the construction and engineering sectors.
• Build and maintain relationships with developers, architects, contractors and consultants.
• Manage key accounts and develop long-term client partnerships.
• Lead tender submissions, proposals and commercial negotiations.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and potential growth opportunities.
• Manage, motivate and develop the sales team, ensuring targets are achieved.
• Work closely with engineering and operational teams to support successful project delivery.
• Maintain sales pipelines, forecasts and management reports.
• Represent the business at client meetings, industry events and networking opportunities.
