Job summary

DS Smith is seeking an ambitious Account Manager for the UK Packaging (Retail) team, handling a Midlands and South West portfolio. The role focuses on strategic partnerships, growth, and sustainable packaging solutions across a remote setup with regular travel.

You will collaborate with Design, Innovation and Operations to deliver value-led offerings, manage accounts, and drive retention and expansion in the FMCG and industrial sectors.

Qualifications

• Proven success in an Account Management role within FMCG—packaging experience is highly desirable but experience in other areas will be welcomed.
• A Full driving license
• Strong ability to work independently and remotely with travel as needed
• Strong business acumen and negotiation skills with the ability to handle conflict and challenges internally and externally
• Proven experience analysing and initiating actions based on financial insights and understanding
• Ability to build robust working relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
• Ability to deliver dynamic and professional presentations

Responsibilities

• Strategy & Growth: Lead the execution of account plans to secure organic revenue growth and margin improvements within existing customers
• Relationship Management: Build deep partnerships across FMCG and industrial sectors to drive loyalty and satisfaction
• Value-Led Solutions: Coordinate with Design and Innovation teams to translate customer needs into tailored, sustainable packaging offerings
• Pipeline & Forecasting: Manage account metrics and communicate precise sales volume and revenue forecasts
• Collaboration & Efficiency: Work with regional sales networks and operations teams to maximise market opportunities and drive supply chain efficiencies
