Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking an Assistant Customer Service Supervisor for Stevenage Library. The role focuses on supervising a busy team, staffing timetabling, and data reporting to support library operations and safety.

You will assist the Library Manager in delivering frontline services, engaging with the public, and promoting library activities across Stevenage. The post requires strong communication and organisational skills and a customer‑focussed approach.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and administration skills.
• Demonstrable experience in leading a team in a supervisory role.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel to collate and present data.

Responsibilities

• Support the Library Manager to actively supervise the Stevenage Library team including staff timetabling, training and development.
• Assist with monthly statistics and data reporting, plus Health & Safety duties as required.
• Act as the senior on duty when needed and lead from the front.
• Contribute to the delivery and promotion of frontline library services and outreach activities.
• Help deliver a programme of library events and activities.
