Station General Manager-Cargo

Location: Swissport Cargo Cardiff Airport Cargo Terminal Barry CF62 3BD

Reporting to: Regional Cargo Director

Swissport UKI is seeking a dynamic and experienced Cargo General Manager to lead operations at Cardiff Airport. This strategic leadership role oversees the full spectrum of cargo services, including freighter aircraft handling, warehouse operations, and road freight logistics.

You’ll be responsible for delivering operational excellence, driving performance against KPIs and SLAs, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

As the senior operational leader on site, you’ll report directly to the Station General Manager and serve as a key liaison between Swissport’s senior leadership, airline partners, and ground teams.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing?

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Security, and QA standards
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and lead incident investigations
  • Monitor and improve KPIs, SLAs, and customer satisfaction metrics
  • Analyse operational and financial data to drive efficiency and cost savings
  • Manage staffing levels, recruitment, and performance reviews
  • Foster employee engagement, training compliance, and career development
  • Build and lead a high-performing management team with clear goals
  • Oversee absence management and support staff wellbeing
  • Coordinate resource planning and operational delivery
  • Resolve service issues and maintain high operational standards
  • Liaise with airline partners and contractors to meet quality benchmarks
  • Ensure timely handling of cargo across air and road freight
  • Provide flexibility to meet business demands beyond standard hours
