Job description

At Moody's, we unite the brightest minds to turn today’s risks into tomorrow’s opportunities. We do this by striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to be who they are—with the freedom to exchange ideas, think innovatively, and listen to each other and customers in meaningful ways. Moody’s is transforming how the world sees risk. As a global leader in ratings and integrated risk assessment, we’re advancing AI to move from insight to action—enabling intelligence that not only understands complexity but responds to it. We decode risk to unlock opportunity, helping our clients navigate uncertainty with clarity, speed, and confidence.

If you are excited about this opportunity but do not meet every single requirement, please apply! You still may be a great fit for this role or other open roles. We are seeking candidates who model our values: invest in every relationship, lead with curiosity, champion diverse perspectives, turn inputs into actions, and uphold trust through integrity.

Skills and Competencies
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in building and shipping production-grade software systems, particularly in distributed systems, large-scale data processing, and cloud-native services.
  • Strong proficiency in designing and developing RESTful APIs using microservices architecture, with hands-on experience in AWS and/or Azure environments.
  • Deep understanding of multi-threading, memory management, and asynchronous programming fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to debug complex issues in multi-tenant cloud environments and optimize performance through bottleneck analysis and resource monitoring.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with identity protocols (OAuth2.0, SAML 2.0, SCIM) and identity providers such as AWS Cognito, Okta, or Azure Active Directory; experience with event-driven architecture and tools like Azure EventHub or AWS SNS/SQS.
Education
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
Responsibilities

As part of our team, you’ll help build and operate our own identity provider—supporting Moody’s external customers across a multi-cloud SaaS platform. This means working on complex, large-scale identity systems from the ground up. It’s technically challenging, highly impactful, and a rare opportunity to shape how identity is managed in a secure, scalable, and resilient way. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the platform meets the highest standards of availability, compliance, and performance across diverse environments.

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-native services for a multi-cloud SaaS platform.
  • Design, code, test, and deploy high-quality features with end-to-end ownership.
  • Build and operate distributed, multi-tenant services with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in software development.
  • Continuously improve system reliability and operational efficiency through monitoring and iterative problem-solving.
