Job description

We are seeking a Staff Officer to provide specialised support to the Regional Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) in their regional role and across their national portfolio of work. The regional role incorporates Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) and the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

In this high‑profile position, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the ACC’s office runs efficiently and effectively. You will act as a trusted advisor and coordinator, managing priorities, briefing materials, and communications to enable strategic decision‑making at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑level administrative and strategic support to the ACC by undertaking portfolio work, projects and management activities.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes and produce accurate briefing papers for SLTs across SEROCU and CTPSE.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of actions.
  • Monitor and track progress on regional initiatives and projects.
  • Work with the administrative support to ensure that the ACC's engagements and diary commitments are effectively prioritised and that all appropriate supporting material is available.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of regional policing, supporting strategic leadership and making a real difference to communities. You’ll be part of a professional, supportive team committed to delivering excellence.

You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad. Please be aware that if successful there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post.

You can find more information about security vetting here.
