Job summary

Engine by Starling seeks a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and run the cloud foundations our banking platform relies on across regions and cloud providers globally. You’ll craft scalable, observable, secure systems and drive automation while reducing manual effort.

Ideally you’ll lead complex projects, shape future capabilities, and mentor others, with a focus on ownership and high technical standards in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Proven multi-region disaster recovery experience on GCP.
• Bootstrapping Google Cloud Organisations with policy hardening.
• Experience with GCP services: GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, IAM, VPC.
• Terraform code written in modular style and reusable patterns.
• SOA with containers, distributed systems and immutable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, build and maintain scalable infrastructure on GCP.
• Ensure performance and reliability of cloud environments with cost awareness.
• Embrace automation and reduce manual deployment work.
• Build systems with security by design as a core foundation.
• Lead complex infrastructure projects from inception to production.
• Write RFCs/ ADRs and deliver runbooks for operations.
