Job summary

Engine by Starling is seeking a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and run cloud foundations for a global, cloud-native banking platform. You will own infrastructure across regions, drive automation, and ensure security and compliance while collaborating with a cross-functional team.

The role emphasizes leadership, documentation, RFCs/ADRs, and hands-on engineering to shape future Engine capabilities with modern tooling and practices.

Qualifications

• Proven multi-region GCP disaster recovery experience.
• Bootstrapping Google Cloud Organisations and enterprise policy hardening.
• Experience with IAM, VPC Service Controls and network security.
• Experience with Terraform code written in modular fashion.
• Experience with containerized, service-oriented architectures and immutable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, build and maintain scalable infrastructure on GCP.
• Ensure performance, reliability and cost-effectiveness of cloud environments.
• Automate manual processes and drive security by design.
