Job summary

Currys seeks a Site Reliability Engineer to own reliability for customer-facing and core trading services. You’ll embed with product teams, define SLIs/SLOs, and help build an AI-assisted AIOps platform that detects anomalies and automates remediation.

The role emphasises production software discipline and proactive incident management. You will contribute to a modern observability stack, drive reliability testing, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rota while collaborating with global partners

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with experience in high-traffic production systems.
• Experience collaborating with engineers, product owners and service management in the UK and overseas.
• Retail/e-commerce/finance sector experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement and report on SLIs/SLOs with product squads to guide prioritisation and releases.
• Design, build and operate the central AIOps platform for telemetry, event correlation and anomaly detection.
• Develop and evolve a modern observability stack using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus and Grafana.
• Eliminate toil via infrastructure as code, CI/CD improvements and automated reliability testing.
• Lead incident response, post-incident reviews and root cause analysis.
• Review architecture to embed reliability, scalability and security principles.
• Lead capacity planning for peak trading events with predictive modelling.
• Coach engineering teams in SRE best practices and participate in on-call rotation.
