Job description
Overview

A Vacancy at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.

Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) – Adult Community, Camden (Band 5).

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary community rehabilitation team. Our office base is in St Pancras Hospital (close to the amenities and transport links of Kings Cross, Euston and Camden), and we see patients in the community across Camden, a vibrant and diverse inner London borough.

Team and setting

You will join our Camden Neurology and Stroke Service – a well-established, highly-respected and supportive team comprising speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, and rehabilitation assistants. You will be committed to providing a goal-focused, evidence-based service to adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a stimulating varied caseload and gain broad clinical experience working across multiple community pathways.
  • Develop and consolidate skills with patients from Early Supported Discharge (post-acute stroke), Neurorehabilitation (stroke, head injury, progressive neuro), Palliative Care, and other long-term conditions affecting communication and/or swallowing (e.g., dementia, COPD).
  • Contribute to Camden’s Integrated Neighbourhood Team model to offer more holistic support to residents as described in the NHS Ten Year Plan.
  • Opportunity to gain experience on in-patient wards within St Pancras Rehabilitation Unit (neurology, multi-pathology and disability management).
Role and development

This post will suit an early-career Speech and Language Therapist looking to develop and consolidate skills when working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. You will bring robust relevant clinical experience from your student placements and/or NQP roles. You will be well-supported by a stable, compassionate, supportive and flexible team of SLTs (Band 6–8a). You will also gain valuable peer support and learning opportunities working closely alongside our wonderful multidisciplinary colleagues.
