Job summary

A tutoring service is seeking a skilled, patient tutor to support a Year 4 student experiencing emotional challenges. Job description

We are seeking a skilled, patient, and emotionally‑aware tutor to work with a young person, M, who is currently in Year 4 and living within the DT6 postal area. M is experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) and has a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). Their primary areas of need include Communication & Interaction and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

This role requires someone who can build trust gradually, work relationally, and create a calm, low‑pressure learning environment that supports both emotional wellbeing and academic engagement.

Role Details
  • Hours: 10 hours per week
  • Location: DT6 postal area
  • Start: As soon as a suitable tutor is identified
  • Setting: Home‑based learning with a flexible, needs‑led approach
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 6 months' experience delivering the UK curriculum within a UK‑based education setting
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs, including EBSA
  • Strong understanding of ASC and communication‑supportive approaches
  • Ability to build rapport slowly and sensitively
  • Confidence in adapting learning to match emotional readiness
