Position

Mon–Fri, 9am – 5pm vacancy at our Oxford Road site for a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist with experience in the Specialist Biochemistry team. Band 5 would also be considered. Candidates must be in possession of an IBMS specialist portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry or equivalent to be appointed at Band 6.

About the Directorate

The Directorate of Biochemistry spans 4 sites with state-of-the-art equipment. Our Specialist Chemistry sections at Oxford Road boast internationally renowned specialised assays using Waters Mass Spectrometry instruments and other techniques such as HPLC, RIA, ELISA, Calculi Analysis and other manual assays.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a registered Biomedical Scientist providing scientific services to patients to aid clinical diagnosis.
  • Undertake a wide range of complex analytical procedures within the specialist team at Oxford Road Campus.
  • Perform a range of manual and semi-automated tests using scientific knowledge to comment upon and validate results in line with ISO 15189.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Specialist Biochemistry experience post-registration.
  • Experience in LCMS, ICPMS, HPLC and other specialist assays.
  • IBMS specialist portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry or equivalent to be appointed at Band 6; candidates working towards their specialist portfolio will be considered for appointment at Band 5.
