A leading healthcare provider is seeking a qualified Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Blood Sciences to join their team in Manchester. This role involves performing and interpreting biomedical investigations, providing technical advice to clinicians, and participating in clinical trials. The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Biomedical Science and relevant HCPC registration, along with opportunities for continuous personal development and leadership training.
Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Blood Sciences (CPP) position at The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP). A qualified and experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist is required to join the Blood Sciences department. CPP supports training and development, and there are plans under discussion for an Advanced Pathology Centre at the Christie. This is an excellent opportunity for a BMS to develop at one of the largest cancer centres in Europe.
The role involves participating in the scientific work of the Blood Sciences department in line with the 24/7 shift rota. You will provide support across all areas of the laboratory, carry out designated duties in line with local working practices, and maintain high professional standards while adhering to Health and Safety regulations. You will perform and interpret routine and specialist biomedical investigations autonomously, ensuring patient results are accurate and delivered within agreed quality standards and turnaround times, under the supervision of senior staff. You will implement and propose improvements to procedures and may act as a lead specialist. Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development through academic study and practical experience is expected, alongside providing leadership, guidance and training to Basic Grade staff, Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners and Medical Laboratory Assistants. As a registered Biomedical Scientist, you will uphold the professional standards of conduct set by the Health Professions Council and provide specialist technical advice to clinicians regarding test appropriateness and reporting timescales.
