Service Care Legal are working in partnership with the Scottish Government to recruit a qualified Public Law Solicitor to support the delivery of high-quality legal services to policy colleagues across key areas of government. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex and high-profile legislative projects with national impact.

Key Responsibilities: As a key member of the legal team, you will:

  • Lead on drafting secondary legislation for council tax and non-domestic rates, involving financial regulations worth millions of pounds.
  • Act as a solicitor on the Community Wealth Building (Scotland) Bill, supporting Ministers during its Parliamentary passage following its March 2025 introduction.
  • Advise policy colleagues on the Scottish implications of the UK Employment Rights Bill.

Required Skills & Experience: We’re looking for an experienced solicitor with:

  • Strong legal skills in public or constitutional law (or equivalent transferable experience).
  • Excellent legal analysis skills, considering complex data and statutory frameworks.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders across government.
