Software Engineer

Location: Derby – On-site (5 days a week)
Salary: Up to £40,000
Contract: Permanent

A Software Engineer is required to join a delivery‑focused engineering team working on the development of modern, full‑stack applications for a key client environment. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with end users and stakeholders, contributing directly to the design, build and improvement of production systems. The work is delivered in a collaborative, agile setting, with a strong emphasis on clean code, secure development and engineering best practice.

Due to the nature of the work, this role is site‑based in Derby and candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.

• 1 year+ of experience as a software engineer
• Design, build and maintain full‑stack web applications using modern Python frameworks (Django, FastAPI, Flask) and JavaScript/TypeScript in React
• Develop and manage SQL‑based data models across relational databases
• Work within an Agile team, contributing to stand‑ups, sprint planning and retrospectives
• Apply secure development practices, including OWASP standards and authentication protocols
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployments
• Participate in code reviews and support continuous improvement of engineering processes
• Collaborate with stakeholders in a client‑facing delivery environment
• Maintain familiarity with Docker, Linux, Azure DevOps, or other modern tooling where applicable
