About the Team

Your day will involve collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams, designing scalable security solutions, and implementing innovative approaches to protect our platform. You'll dive deep into security data processing, authentication mechanisms, and privacy engineering challenges that require creative problem‑solving and technical excellence.

About the Role

Twitch Security Platform builds and operates the foundational software, data, and automation that enable security at scale across Twitch. As a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) on the Security Platform team, you will design, build, and operate critical services, pipelines, and tooling that power Twitch’s security, privacy, and compliance programs.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, security, privacy and data engineering, contributing production systems that handle large‑scale security telemetry, automate security workflows, and provide reliable data and services to internal teams. You will partner closely with engineers and product teams to solve real‑world security problems through well‑designed software.

You will own projects end‑to‑end from design and implementation through deployment and on‑call support—and operate systems that are business‑critical and highly visible. The problems you work on will span areas such as security data ingestion and processing, detection and response automation, service to service authentication, vulnerability management, and privacy engineering.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working in ambiguous problem spaces, values operational excellence, enables peers and wants to see their work directly improve Twitch’s security posture at scale.

You can work from San Francisco, CA; Irvine, CA; or Seattle, WA.

You Will:
  • Own and deliver well‑scoped software projects end‑to‑end, from design through production support.
  • Partner with engineers across Security, Identity, Privacy, and Infrastructure on Twitch‑wide initiatives.
  • Contribute to evolving and scaling authentication, security and privacy systems, balancing security, reliability, and user experience.
  • Drive operational excellence by improving observability, reliability, and on‑call readiness for critical security and identity systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, retrospectives, and technical discussions, influencing decisions through strong technical leadership.
  • Raise the quality bar through thoughtful code reviews, documentation, and maintainable system design.
You Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience building and operating production Go services and full‑stack applications, with ownership across backend APIs, frontend experiences, and the operational lifecycle of critical systems.
  • Hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and operating production services or data pipelines on AWS, including major AWS‑native services, infrastructure‑as‑code, environment configuration, and safe rollout practices.
  • Experience working in ambiguous technical problem spaces, where requirements are incomplete or evolving, and driving clarity by proposing designs, validating assumptions, and collaborating across security, infrastructure, and application teams.
  • Exposure to security, data, and privacy concepts relevant to platform engineering, such as authentication and authorization, security telemetry or logging, vulnerability scanning or remediation workflows, and basic privacy or compliance considerations.
Bonus Points
  • Familiarity with security, data, and privacy systems, such as security or audit data lakes, cloud authentication and authorization flows, vulnerability scanning and remediation pipelines, and privacy or compliance‑driven workflows (e.g., GDPR‑related controls).
  • Experience working with large‑scale event or log data, including event‑driven architectures, asynchronous processing, or batch/streaming pipelines used for monitoring, analytics, or security use cases.
  • Demonstrated experience improving operational excellence, such as adding metrics, dashboards, alarms, run‑books, or automated remediation to increase reliability and reduce on‑call load.
  • Experience integrating AI‑assisted development or analysis tools into engineering workflows, such as using LLM‑powered tooling, automation, or MCP‑style platforms to improve developer productivity or system insight.
Perks
  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Maternity & Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO
  • Amazon Employee Discount
