A leading insurance provider is looking for a graduate to join their Software Asset Management team. This role involves managing software licenses and subscriptions while providing analytical insights to safeguard compliance and drive cost efficiency. You'll gain hands-on experience and have opportunities for professional certifications. Ideal candidates will have a degree in IT or a related field and a passion for data. The role offers a competitive salary and a collaborative environment.
Software Asset Management (SAM) plays a vital role in protecting NFU Mutual from risk and ensuring we get the very best value from our technology investments. By managing software licences, subscriptions and software usage data, SAM ensures we're compliant with complex contracts, able to make informed decisions about spend, and free to focus on innovation and transformation. This is a business-critical area that saves millions of pounds every year. As a graduate, you'll join a supportive, expert team at the heart of our Vendor Management function. You'll learn how to analyse licensing data, interpret contracts, and advise the business on how best to deploy and manage software, driving highest value decisions for least cost. From early tasks like leaver/joiner access controls to bigger challenges such as licensing cloud environments or data centres, you'll quickly see how your work helps safeguard the business while enabling smarter, more cost-effective solutions. You'll work closely with colleagues across IT, procurement, and architecture, as well as external suppliers, giving you exposure to both technical detail and commercial negotiations. Alongside hands-on experience with tools like Snow Software and partner service providers like Computacentre, you'll also build the confidence to challenge assumptions, present options, and support major programmes such as our Data Centre Exit and migration to Microsoft Azure.
Over three years, you'll progress from developing your technical and commercial foundations to tackling more complex, strategic challenges. You'll
You'll also have the opportunity to complete professional IT certifications such as ITIL and other qualifications relevant to Software Asset Management and vendor management, giving you the knowledge and credibility to thrive in this specialist field. By the end of the scheme, you'll have the skills and qualifications to play a key role in how NFU Mutual manages its technology estate - ensuring compliance, driving cost efficiency, and enabling transformation.
We're a collaborative, inclusive team that values curiosity, experimentation, and continuous learning. Graduates have thrived here by bringing fresh perspectives, asking great questions, and getting stuck into real challenges. We celebrate diverse thinking and support each other to grow - both professionally and personally. From day one, you'll be supported by a buddy, a mentor, and a strong graduate network. You'll also take part in regular graduate development sessions, and as you near the end of the scheme, a careers coach will help you plan your next steps - whether that's becoming a technical specialist or moving towards leadership.
Criteria - minimum 2:2 degree in IT or another subject paired with IT knowledge or experience, plus a genuine passion for technology and data. You'll need a strong academic record and a 2:2 degree (achieved or predicted) in IT or a related subject. We'll also consider graduates from other disciplines who can show IT knowledge and a genuine passion for technology. The scheme will suit you if you have a mix of business and IT interests and if you enjoy working with data, paying close attention to detail, and wanting to apply your skills in a commercially impactful way. You'll need to be inquisitive, proactive, and collaborative, with the ability to balance technical detail and business priorities.
Some relevant experience, whether through internships, personal projects, hackathons, or university research, is desirable but by no means essential. What matters most is your curiosity, willingness to learn, and ability to apply your skills to real-world challenges.
It's not all about technology and certifications either. You'll have the chance to get involved in volunteering, social and charity activities, and even represent NFU Mutual at industry events. These experiences are part of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments and a great way to broaden your skills while giving something back. You'll be part of an inclusive IT Division of 700 people at the heart of an £80m+ annual change portfolio, and a graduate community that's collaborative, supportive, and always ready to share knowledge.
