To provide operational leadership and management to the Safeguarding and Child Protection Team, ensuring excellent social work practice, effective risk management, and positive outcomes for children at risk of harm. You will oversee statutory safeguarding functions, ensuring timely assessments, care planning, and multi-agency collaboration to protect vulnerable children and families.
Lead, supervise, and support a team of qualified social workers and support staff.
Provide reflective supervision, performance management, and mentoring.
Ensure the team delivers high-quality assessments, interventions, and safeguarding plans.
Support staff development through coaching, training, and identifying learning needs.
Manage staffing levels, caseload allocation, and workflow to maintain safe and effective practice.
Oversee statutory child protection processes and high-risk cases.
Ensure timely, robust assessments, risk analyses, and decision-making.
Approve child protection and care plans, including emergency safeguarding actions.
Provide management oversight for complex or high-risk cases.
Conduct case audits to maintain quality, compliance, and learning.
Support implementation of practice standards and service improvement initiatives.
Contribute to lessons learned from serious case reviews.
Develop strong relationships with police, health services, schools, early help, foster care, and voluntary sector partners.
Lead or participate in multi-agency meetings, safeguarding forums, and strategic collaborations.
Ensure the team meets statutory timescales, performance targets, and compliance standards.
Contribute to service planning, policy development, and workforce strategies.
Support recruitment, retention, and development of social work staff.
