The Role:
Social Video Producer – The Sun is looking for a creative and driven Social Video Producer to join our fast‑paced Fabulous & Features team. You will be on the front lines of content creation, helping to execute the social media and video strategy for one of the UK’s most engaging lifestyle brands.
As the Social Video Producer, you will be instrumental in our content to life on social platforms. You will be a key part of the team responsible for creating, scheduling, and publishing compelling social media content that captivates our audience, drives engagement and helps to secure brand partnerships. You will be a versatile content creator, an expert in social trends, and a meticulous planner.
This role is full‑time (five days a week), operating on a 40‑hour, rolling seven‑day rota with staggered shifts. As per the News UK flexible working policy, this role is required to work from our London Bridge office for a minimum of 3 days a week. Any part‑time working requests will be considered on an individual basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and edit engaging social media content, with a strong focus on short‑form video (e.g., TikToks, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts). This includes scripting, filming, editing, and adding trending audio and text overlays and graphics.
- Manage the day‑to‑day social media calendar, scheduling and publishing content across all platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube while taking into account commercial aspects.
- Actively engage with our social media community, responding to comments and messages to foster a positive and interactive environment.
- Stay up‑to‑date with the latest social media trends, challenges, and platform updates. Proactively identify opportunities to leverage these trends in our content.
- Assist the Social Strategy Lead in monitoring and reporting on the performance of social content, providing insights on what’s working and what can be improved.
- Work closely with the wider editorial and production teams to transform long‑form articles and videos into shareable social media assets.
Key Qualifications/Skills:
- Proven experience in a social media role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your skills in creating and managing content for major platforms.
- Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar mobile‑first editing apps) and an eye for fast‑paced, visually appealing social video.
- Deep understanding of platform algorithms, best practices, and the nuances of each channel.
- A natural creator with an eye for what makes content go viral. You’re full of ideas and not afraid to experiment.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Genuine passion for fashion, beauty, celebrity, and lifestyle content and eager to contribute to a leading brand in the space.
