Job summary

Relay is seeking an on-site Site Manager to lead a high-volume sort centre operation. You will manage 50–100+ operatives per shift, ensuring safety, throughput and schedule adherence. You’ll implement changes to improve delivery flow and partner with senior leadership to scale performance.

You will report on shift outcomes, develop frontline talent, and deploy robust processes, controls, and handovers to sustain continuous improvement in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Scaled something from zero: a site, a market, a process or a program.
• Managed a physical operation with frontline staff.
• Communicate in both directions and have strong people management skills.
• Built a mechanism that held a control, a cadence, a metric, a document standard.

Responsibilities

• Deliver shift plan end to end: people deployment, throughput, quality standards, and health & safety compliance.
• Lead, develop, and performance-manage a frontline team of 50–100+ operatives.
• Build the mechanisms that hold the operation together: controls, cadences, metrics, SOPs, change management and adoption.
• Plan ahead for future shifts: labour, training and risks you can see coming.
• Own end-of-shift handovers and briefings; communicate what happened and what is at risk.
• Stay decisive through volume peaks, outages, and labour gaps; triage and restore flow.
• Present and write clearly for briefs, escalations, and post-incident reviews.
