Relay Technologies in the UK seeks a Site Manager to run shifts at a Hybrid Sort Centre, leading 50–100+ operatives in high-volume sortation where minutes matter. You will be on the floor each shift, driving performance and continuous improvement across throughput, quality, and safety.

The role emphasizes end-to-end shift leadership, hands-on management, and implementing changes into live operations, including robotics or new clients, with fast decision cycles and clear handovers.

Qualifications

• Scaled from zero: a site, a market, a process or a program.
• Managed a physical operation: quick commerce, grocery, e-commerce fulfillment, last mile, 3PL.
• Communicate in both directions and have strong people management skills.
• Built a mechanism that held a control, a cadence, a metric, a document standard.
• Own numbers rather than report them.
• Understand frontline work: you have led frontline teams or been embedded with them.

Responsibilities

• Deliver shift plan end to end: people deployment, throughput, quality standards, and health & safety compliance.
• Lead, develop, and performance-manage a frontline team of 50–100+ operatives.
• Build mechanisms that hold the operation together: controls, cadences, metrics, SOPs, change management and adoption.
• Plan ahead for future shifts: labour, training, and risk mitigation.
• Own the end-of-shift handover and communicate what happened, risks, and needs for the next shift.
