Job summary

Relay seeks an experienced operations leader to run shifts at Hybrid Sort Centres, directing 50–100+ operatives with hands-on presence on the floor. You will own end-to-end shift plans, drive throughput, quality and safety, and deploy changes across a live, dynamic operation.

You will build robust processes, mentored teams and clear handovers, maintaining momentum through volume peaks and tight deadlines, in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading frontline teams and managing 50–100+ operatives.
• Proven track record in operations improvement and process redesign.
• Ability to deploy shift plans and manage safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Plan end-to-end shift plans including deployment, throughput, quality standards and safety.
• Lead, develop and performance-manage a frontline team of 50–100+ operatives.
• Build and own mechanisms: controls, cadences, metrics, SOPs and change adoption.
• Plan ahead for future shifts: labour, training and risks.
• Own end-of-shift handovers; communicate what happened and what is needed next.
• Stay decisive through peaks, outages, and labour gaps; triage and restore flow.
• Present and document briefs, escalations and reviews; decisions rely on your write-ups.
• Implement changes into live operations, e.g., robotics or new clients.
