Job description

We’re looking for a proactive Site Manager to be the central point of contact for one of our branches. In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations, uphold safety and compliance standards, and create an environment that’s welcoming and ready for visitors. You’ll work closely with teams across the organisation to deliver exceptional visitor experiences and support high‑profile events.

Role Responsibilities
  • Act as the ‘go-to’ person for all operational matters at your branch.
  • Oversee delivery of visitor services, security, and facilities contracts, ensuring compliance with KPIs and SLAs.
  • Lead on safeguarding, crisis management, and emergency planning.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to maintain high standards and resolve operational challenges.
  • Support planning and delivery of ceremonial and large-scale events.
  • Monitor performance, manage budgets, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure statutory obligations are met (Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Emergency Planning).
  • Conduct regular site checks, risk assessments, and investigate incidents to maintain safety.
  • Coordinate operational workflows and logistics for projects and events.
  • Maintain accurate records, produce reports, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Induct staff and volunteers on operational procedures and support branch administration.
About You
  • Proven experience managing contracts and service providers, with strong relationship‑building skills.
  • Knowledge of operational management in public‑facing environments, including safety and security.
  • A track record of delivering outstanding visitor care and adapting to change.
  • Commercial awareness and budget management experience.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to solve problems under pressure.
  • GCSE‑level education (or equivalent) and a clean driving licence.

Experience in the heritage sector or visitor operations is desirable, but not essential. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who share our commitment to safety, service, and visitor experience.
