Overview

Adult Critical Care are looking to employ motivated and conscientious senior nurses/ODPs to join our friendly and dynamic multi professional team caring for critically ill patients and their families.

You will have a broad experience and insight into caring for acutely unwell patients and their families. You will have the ability to lead a team, prioritise and respond to planned and unplanned situations and ensure the smooth, safe and efficient running of the unit.

We are recruiting to some permanent and some short term (8 month) posts.

You will need to lead the team in the development of Critical Care by promoting excellence and having innovative thinking.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure in what can be a stressful environment with complex situations.

The Critical Care service at the Queens Medical Centre Campus encompasses 29 Level 3 beds on Adult Intensive Care and 20 Level 2 beds on High Dependency. Critical Care at the City Campus consists of a combined unit with 17 beds.

Responsibilities
  • Be the Sister/ Charge Nurse/ODP with 24-hour responsibility for managing staff and budgets. Ensuring that the standards and quality of care given are maintained to a high standard, to include hotel service provision and the environment in which care is delivered.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that patients and users are involved in their care, providing visible evidence that their feedback is used to maintain standards or implement improvements that have an effect on their care.
  • Be an effective leader and role model, providing regular direct clinical care, in addition to ensuring effective use of non-clinical time to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance, facilitating the modernisation of patient services.
  • Work flexibly as a member of the team to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated and where necessary improved.
  • Contribute to the work of time-limited committees and project groups.
  • Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust’s “We Listen, We Care” behavioural standards
