Job summary

St Helena Hospice Ltd in Manningtree seeks a dynamic Shop and Café Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of the Manningtree shop and cafe, drive income, Gift Aid and other performance targets, and deliver a welcoming experience for customers and donors.

You will recruit and develop paid staff and volunteers, oversee stock handling of donated goods, ensure food safety and compliance, and promote local community activity to align with brand values.

Responsibilities

• Lead Manningtree shop & cafe day-to-day to meet income, Gift Aid and performance targets.
• Deliver an excellent customer, donor and cafe experience through service, presentation and stock availability.
• Recruit, lead, develop and retain paid staff and volunteers across shop and cafe.
• Oversee receipt, sorting, storage, and movement of donated stock in collaboration with Donation Centre and logistics.
• Ensure compliance with policies, SOPs, and food & product-safety controls.
• Run cafe operations with hygiene, allergen controls, waste reduction, cash handling and training support.
• Promote the shop through local community activity in line with brand and approvals.
• Protect charity assets, funds and information.
