Job summary

One Stop, a Tesco subsidiary, is seeking a Shift Leader to drive daily store operations and deliver an excellent customer experience. You will lead a team during duty shifts, coordinate tasks, and ensure standards across service, stock, and safety.

As the customer remains central, you will coach colleagues, monitor store performance, and implement practical actions to improve service and efficiency while maintaining a welcoming environment for all customers and staff.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer-facing roles.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time during busy shifts.
• Proactive problem-solving to resolve issues and support colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community.
• Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers and safety.
• Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day queries.
• Support the Store Manager to co-ordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating an inclusive atmosphere.
• Ensure the store is clean, tidy and well presented and replenish products as needed.
• Manage queues and customer flow to deliver a great shopping trip.
• Coordinate colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage shift coverage and breaks.
• Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
• Communicate effectively with the team and share operational improvements with the Store Manager.
• Actively support absence management and return-to-work interviews where applicable.
• If a Post Office Local exists, undertake related duties and background checks as required.
