Job summary

Hunter Selection | B Corp™ is seeking an electrically biased Shift Engineer to join a leading manufacturing group in an FMCG environment. The role focuses on preventive and reactive maintenance across high-speed production lines, conveyors, pumps, and automated systems.

The successful candidate will have City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical and a time-served apprenticeship, with at least 5 years in manufacturing engineering. PLC/SCADA fault finding and robust reading of drawings are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a multi-skilled engineer, electrically biased.
• Experience in high-speed production - FMCG manufacturing environments.
• Completed a time-served apprenticeship.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an engineer in manufacturing.
• City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Test & Inspection beneficial.
• PLC & SCADA fault finding.
• 17th or 18th Edition Electrical beneficial.
• Able to read P&ID, electrical & mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and planned maintenance, electrically & mechanically.
• Work on high-speed production, packaging and automated machinery.
• Deal with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, sensors, electrical isolation, inverters, pneumatics, servo drives, control panels, pumps, compressors, steam & boiler systems.
• PLC - electrical fault finding on Siemens & Allen Bradley.
• SCADA Systems - electrical fault finding.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects and new machinery installations/modifications.
• Be able to work mechanically on pipework, fabrication and fault finding.

Role & Responsibilities of a Shift Engineer:

• Carry out both preventative and planned maintenance, both electrically & mechanically
• Working on high-speed production, packaging and automated machinery
• Dealing with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, sensors, electrical isolation, inverters, pneumatics, servo drives, control panels, pumps, compressors, steam & boiler systems
• PLC - electrical fault finding on Siemens & Allen Bradley
• SCADA Systems - electrical fault finding
• Continuous improvement projects and new machinery installations and modification work
• Be able to work mechanically on various pipework, fabrication & fault finding

Knowledge, Skills & Experience need to be a Shift Engineer:

• Must be a multi-skilled engineer, electrically biased
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical is a minimum requirement
• Must have worked in high-speed production - food, FMCG manufacturing environments
• Completed a time-served apprenticeship
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an engineer in manufacturing
• Beneficial to have City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Test & Inspection
• PLC & SCADA Systems - electrical fault finding
• Beneficial to have 17th or 18th Edition Electrical
• Strong team player with a continuous improvement approach
• A good level of mechanical skills - dealing with pipework, gearboxes, drives, pumps, etc
• Able to follow P&ID, electrical & mechanical drawings
