Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking a Shift Engineer for a 12-hour shift pattern at its Biggleswade site in the UK. The role covers maintenance of high-speed production and packaging equipment, with electrical and mechanical fault-finding, and a focus on continuous improvement within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Candidates should have NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), HNC/HND preferred, and experience with PLCs/SCADA, HMIs, motors, and drives. BUPA, enhanced parental policies, and other benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Multi skilled engineer, ideally electrically biased.
• NVQ Level 3 engineering or maintenance minimum.
• HNC/HND preferred; time-served apprenticeship.
• Must have worked in fast-paced FMCG manufacturing.
• Strong electrical and mechanical problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of PLCs, automation and control systems, HMIs.
• Experience with motors, inverters, VSDs, sensors, pneumatics.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance of high-speed production and packaging machinery.
• Work on control panels, HMIs, PLCs, SCADA Systems.
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs.
• Continuous improvement projects.
• Dealing with motors, VSDs, servo drives, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, inverters.
• Mechanical fabrication, fitting, welding.

Role And Responsibilities Of a Shift Engineer

• Working on control panels, HMis, PLCs, SCADA Systems
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs
• Continuous improvement projects

• Mechanical fabrication, fitting, welding

Knowledge, skills and experience need to be a Shift Engineer:

• Multi skilled engineer : ideally electrically biased
• NVQ Level 3 engineering or maintenance minimum

• Must have worked in some form of fast:paced / Food / FMCG manufacturing industry
• Strong electrical and mechanical problem solving skills
• Knowledge of PLCs, automation and control systems, HMis
• Worked on motors, inverters, VSDs, sensors, switches, pneumatics, gearboxes
