Job summary

Hunter Selection Ltd in the United Kingdom is recruiting a Shift Engineer to join a leading food manufacturer that is expanding to support UK supermarkets. The role focuses on maintaining high-speed production and packaging machinery with emphasis on electrical and mechanical fault finding.

You will work on control panels, HMIs, PLCs, and SCADA systems to ensure reliability and safety across shifts, while applying a strong multi-skilled background in FMCG manufacturing.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 engineering or maintenance minimum.
• Ideally HNC / HND qualification
• Time-served apprenticeship preferred
• Experience in fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of high-speed production and packaging machinery.
• Work on control panels, HMIs, PLCs, SCADA systems
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs
• Deal with motors, VSDs, servo drives, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, inverters
• Mechanical fabrication, fitting, welding

Do you want to work for a leading food manufacturers that is going through a lot of progressive growth with the UK’s supermarkets. Due to expansion within the team, they are looking for shift engineers to join.

Role & responsibilities of a Shift Engineer:

• Carry out planned preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance of all high-speed production & packaging machinery
• Working on control panels, HMi’s, PLC’s, SCADA Systems
• Electrical & mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs
• Dealing with motors, VSD’s, servo drives, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, inverters
• Mechanical fabrication, fitting, welding

Knowledge, skills & experience need to be a Shift Engineer:

• Multi skilled engineer – ideally electrically biased
• NVQ Level 3 engineering or maintenance minimum
• Ideally HNC / HND qualified – time-served-apprenticeship
• Must have worked in some form of fast-paced / Food / FMCG manufacturing industry
• Strong electrical & mechanical problem solving skills
• Knowledge of PLC’s, automation & control systems, HMi’s
• Worked on motors, inverters, VSD’s, sensors, switches, pneumatics, gearboxes
