Job description

Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week (16 hours administration, remaining hours working hands‑on in service)

Location: Hull

You will provide supervision and support to a team of Social Care Support Workers, alongside delivering person-centred support and care plans to the people we support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure staff develop and maintain professional, trusting relationships with the people we support, promoting self‑esteem, happiness, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support staff to encourage individuals to express their needs, views, and concerns, enabling choice, decision-making, and full participation in planning, in line with Person Centred Planning and BILD principles.
  • Promote and protect the rights and entitlements of people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, and autism, including access to independent advocacy.
  • Support people to develop socially valued lifestyles through culturally and age‑appropriate activities, enabling access to social, leisure, work, and educational opportunities.
  • Promote positive relationships with families and significant others, involving them in support planning where appropriate and in line with individual preferences.
  • Enable people to become as independent as possible through practical support, teaching, encouragement, and positive role modelling.
  • Coach staff in appropriate strategies for supporting individuals who may display behaviours that challenge, acting as a positive role model.
  • Ensure individuals receive appropriate advice, care, health checks, and support to maintain physical and emotional wellbeing, promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • Ensure medication is administered, stored, and recorded correctly in line with Autism Plus guidelines.
  • Monitor emotional and physical wellbeing, reporting concerns or changes in line with the Mental Capacity Act and Autism Plus safeguarding procedures.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents, ensuring health, safety, and welfare in line with policy and legislation.
  • Oversee and record financial transactions, supporting individuals to manage their finances as independently as possible.
  • Ensure individual needs, including physical health, communication, and mental health needs, are identified, assessed, and met.
  • Ensure all individuals have up-to-date Individual Support and Person-Centred Plans, with key workers allocated and reviews completed in line with BILD.
Staff Management
  • Work within services, remaining visible to staff while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Manage staff rotas, absences, and hours using Humanity, Workday, and the main rota system, completing back-to-work interviews where required.
  • Lead and manage staff performance to meet PCP and CQC standards.
  • Coordinate staff resources effectively, delegating tasks and ensuring duties and activities are completed to a high standard.
  • Ensure safe working practices in line with Health & Safety, Moving & Handling, Fire Safety, COSHH, and Environmental Health requirements.
  • Provide supervision, appraisal, and support to staff, addressing performance concerns and escalating to the Registered Manager where needed.
  • Identify and support staff training and development needs, including induction of new staff.
  • Organise and chair team meetings, promoting a positive, supportive, and collaborative team culture.
  • Be flexible to meet service needs, including rota changes, covering leave, and participating in on‑call rotas.
  • Work in line with agreed policies, procedures, and training requirements, supporting colleagues in challenging situations.
