Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Sensor Actuator Assurance Engineer in Chelmsford to develop and maintain verification methods for sensors and actuators used in Power Unit control systems. You will support lab and track operations to meet performance and safety requirements throughout their lifecycle.

The role requires a degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years in motorsport or high-performance environments, plus experience with mission-critical devices, sensor physics,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years' experience with electronics in motorsport or high-performance contexts.
• Proven track record of managing mission-critical devices.
• Solid understanding of the physics of sensors and actuators.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with MATLAB and statistics tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop test methods and procedures aligned with standards to assess sensor and actuator reliability.
• Design protective handling/installation procedures to preserve device integrity.
• Create and run non-destructive evaluation methods and maintain records.
• Collaborate with Data Analysis and PLM to correlate usage with reliability.
• Help select sensors/actuators for PU applications with Electronics Systems Engineering and PU Design.
• Execute assurance testing and produce statistical fleet reports.
• Engage suppliers on performance issues and supply chain concerns.
