Job summary

GM Performance Power Units seeks a Sensor Actuator Assurance Engineer to develop and maintain methods verifying the accuracy, reliability, and service worthiness of sensors and actuators used in PU control systems. The role supports both laboratory and Formula 1 track operations, ensuring devices meet performance and safety requirements across their lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with electronics in motorsport/high-performance environments.
• Experience managing and maintaining mission critical devices.
• Strong understanding of sensor/actuator physics and operating principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with MATLAB and statistical analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop test methods aligned with manufacturer recommendations, industry standards, and PU use cases.
• Design protective storage and handling procedures to preserve device integrity.
• Create and execute non-destructive evaluation methods and maintain records.
• Correlate device usage with reliability outcomes with Data Analysis and PLM teams.
• Assist in sensor/actuator selection for PU applications with Electronics Systems Engineering and PU Design.
• Execute assurance testing; document results and produce statistical reports.
• Engage suppliers on performance issues, fault resolution, and supply chain concerns.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
