Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Sheffield is seeking a Sensor Actuator Assurance Engineer to develop and maintain verified methods for sensors and actuators used in Power Unit control systems. The role supports both laboratory and Formula 1 track operations, ensuring devices meet performance and safety requirements throughout their lifecycle.

You will design test methods, enable data analysis, and collaborate with Electronics Systems Engineering and PU Design to ensure reliability and safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of electronics experience in motorsport/high-performance environments.
• Experience managing and maintaining mission-critical devices.
• Strong understanding of the physics and operating principles of sensors and actuators.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with MATLAB and statistical analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop test methods and procedures aligned with manufacturer recommendations, industry standards and PU use cases.
• Design protective storage solutions and handling/installation procedures.
• Create and execute non-destructive evaluation methods with complete records.
• Collaborate with Data Analysis and PLM teams to correlate reliability with usage.
• Assist selection of sensors/actuators for PU applications with Electronics Systems Engineering and PU Design.
• Execute assurance testing; document results and produce statistical fleet reports.
• Engage suppliers on performance issues and supply chain concerns.
