Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Ipswich, UK is seeking a Sensor Actuator Assurance Engineer to verify the accuracy, reliability, and service worthiness of sensors and actuators used in PU control systems. The role supports both laboratory and track operations to ensure performance and safety throughout the lifecycle.

You will develop test methods, design protective procedures, and collaborate with Data Analysis and PLM teams to relate usage to reliability while supporting dyno tests and trackside

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of electronics experience in motorsport/high-performance contexts.
• Experience managing mission-critical devices.
• Strong understanding of sensors and actuators physics.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with MATLAB and statistics tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop test methods and procedures aligned with standards and PU use cases.
• Design protective storage and handling procedures to preserve device integrity.
• Create and execute non-destructive evaluation methods; maintain records.
• Correlate device usage with reliability and set mileage/service limits.
• Assist sensor/actuator selection with Electronics Systems Engineering and PU Design.
• Conduct assurance testing; document results and produce statistics.
• Engage suppliers on performance issues and supply chain concerns as needed.
