Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Sensor Actuator Assurance Engineer in Watford to develop tests and procedures ensuring sensors and actuators meet performance and safety standards for Formula 1 power units. You will work across lab and trackside operations to verify device accuracy, reliability, and lifecycle readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of electronics experience in motorsport/high-performance environments.
• Proven experience managing mission-critical devices.
• Strong understanding of sensors and actuators physics.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with MATLAB and statistical analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop test methods and procedures aligned with manufacturer recommendations, industry standards, and PU use cases.
• Design protective storage and handling procedures to preserve device integrity.
• Create and execute non-destructive evaluation methods and maintain records.
• Collaborate with Data Analysis and PLM to correlate usage with reliability outcomes.
• Assist in sensor/actuator selection for PU applications with Electronics Systems Engineering.
• Execute assurance testing and produce statistical fleet reports.
• Engage suppliers on performance issues and supply chain concerns as needed.
