Job summary

Made Tech Group is seeking a Senior User Researcher to lead user-centred studies for public sector projects. You will work with UCD colleagues and cross-functional teams to understand user challenges and inform service design.

Your role includes planning, running mixed-method studies and delivering actionable insights for product teams. You will advocate for research, drive rigorous methodologies, and help define design principles that improve usability and outcomes across public services.

Qualifications

• Experience in user centred, lean and agile research methodologies including usability testing, contextual enquiry and rapid research.
• Able to apply measurable and evaluative research approaches.
• Supports accessibility and inclusive design practices.
• Understands and adheres to Made Tech’s research standards, the MRS code of practice and GDPR.
• Provides clear and informative communications with research participants, including sharing GDPR policies.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the research subject matter expert on a multidisciplinary team, facilitating the end-to-end research process and communicating research decisions to the team and stakeholders
• Scope the focus of research, so everyone involved has a shared understanding of what success looks like
• Comfortable selecting the most appropriate qualitative/quantitative research methods for a project
• Work as a solo researcher within a multidisciplinary team on client deliveries
• Advocate for user research within the project delivery and with stakeholders
• Plan research that informs the design of public services that are helpful, usable and successful
• Help teams apply a range of methods to analyse research data and synthesise findings
• Create compelling and actionable insights suited to the research development phase
• Identify key project stakeholders, build relationships and update on progress
• Present findings in show & tells / key meetings to project delivery team and stakeholders
• Analyse and interpret findings so teams can confirm or challenge their understandings
• Advocate for decisions based on research findings
