Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join their team in Wakefield. The ideal candidate will have UK experience in traffic engineering within a Local Authority environment, capable of designing and implementing traffic schemes. Qualifications

  • Experience in a Local Authority traffic engineering environment or consultancy.
  • Ability to manage multiple schemes and work autonomously.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement traffic schemes including reviewing drawings.
  • Manage public consultations and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical reports and assist mentoring junior colleagues.

Experience required…

Essential
  • UK experience working within a Local Authority traffic engineering environment, or consultancy supporting Local Authorities.
  • Confident in detailed design and implementation of traffic schemes including reviewing drawings.
  • Competent in the use of TSRGD, Traffic Signs Manual, LTN 1 / 20 and other relevant standards and guidance documents.
  • Experience in contractor liaison, including clarifications and site queries.
  • Experience managing public consultations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple schemes and work with minimal supervision.
Desirable
  • CAD capability beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience guiding junior colleagues or providing informal support to others.
  • Organisation and monitoring of costs in relation to Traffic Regulation Orders and Traffic schemes.
