Job description

Senior Systems Engineer – Portsmouth

Hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Salary up to £48,000 depending on skills and experience.

What you’ll be doing
  • Apply systems thinking to complex system challenges
  • Stakeholder requirements elicitation, analysis and management to ensure systems engineering artefacts satisfy stakeholder needs
  • Understand and apply strategies around system development across a typical lifecycle, from requirement elicitation through to qualification, including integration, verification and validation activities
  • Identify system emergent properties, trade‑offs, optimisation, risk management and verification activities
  • Liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient engagement in support of system realisation
  • Work with multiple Asset Management Service Hubs to tailor and deliver the Systems Engineering capabilities and services as required
  • Utilise Model Based Systems Engineering Tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect) to capture system definition
  • Own and deliver packages of work autonomously and concurrently manage a small team when required
  • Mentor and support junior Engineers including secondary line management responsibility
Key qualifications and experience
  • Experience of V‑model or the full product lifecycle
  • Systems Engineering experience and exposure to the ISO 15288 lifecycle
  • Experience of Model based Systems Engineering and Digital Enabling Technologies
  • Awareness of marine/ship systems (HVAC, Fuel Systems, Gas Turbine Services, Fresh Water Services, Sea Water Services, Black and Grey Water Systems, Bilge and Sullage Systems, Gas Systems, Intake and Exhaust Systems, Chilled Water Systems, Lub Oil and Hydraulics)
  • Degree level in Systems Engineering or a related discipline; membership of a relevant professional body and working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration
