Job description

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will support development activities across a range of technology areas including Radio Frequency/Optical communications, RADAR/Electronic Warfare, Global Navigation Satellite Systems, Cyber/Crypto‑Security and Joint, Air, Land and Maritime Domains with projects spanning all levels of technical maturity from proof‑of‑concept demonstrators to full production systems. Day‑to‑day, you will be exposed to a number of exciting projects QinetiQ are operating on and will develop your talent, by working on a range of skills at the forefront of technology.

Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of cutting‑edge projects, shaping how delivery is executed and applying your development skills across a range of activities across the full software development lifecycle
  • Design, develop and test new software, whilst adhering to industry best practices
  • Build relationships in the customer community to support business growth
  • Collaborate with other technical teams and customer network service teams to ensure smooth and efficient delivery
  • Champion development practices that facilitate the team to efficiently create high quality deliverables that delight the customer
Qualifications
  • Excellent understanding of the software development life cycle and experience in the design and development of complex software projects
  • Experience of understanding and influencing Systems Architecture and Design
  • Experience with source code control systems and experience using Java, Spring and React
  • Experience with TDD
  • Experience with Agile software engineering practices (e.g., Scrum, CI/CD, BDD)
  • Experience of using Jira / Gitlab to drive development
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
About the Role

This role is 37 hours per week based at Malvern. Hybrid working patterns are available. The Malvern facility is noted for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK's defence capabilities. Developing technologies for military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications and cyber security.
