Job summary

Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to develop and apply analytical methods for biopharmaceutical characterisation. The role involves peptide mapping, mass spectrometry, and glycosylation analysis to support drug substance and product characterisation in a fast-paced biotech environment.

The candidate will contribute to method development, data interpretation, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring compliance with GMP and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing HPLC-based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expertise across electrophoretic, chromatographic and mass spectrometry techniques.
• Experience with assay development and GMP principles.

Responsibilities

• Support impurity characterisation and identification for drug substance and drug product.
• Perform protein sequencing and PTM identification, including glycosylation analysis.
• Support process development by characterising process intermediates.
• Develop characterisation methods including peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analysis.
• Design and conduct biochemical characterisation, chemical stability and comparability studies.
