Job summary

Tesco is seeking a Senior React Native Engineer to advance the Digital Design System (DDS) for React Native. You will build reusable UI foundations, APIs, accessibility, and release discipline across iOS, Android, and Web, collaborating with design, product engineering, and DDS peers.

You’ll mentor engineers, improve tooling and documentation, and help teams adopt the DDS. The role blends hands-on coding with architectural judgment and strong communication in a hybrid UK setting.

Qualifications

• Senior platform engineer with focus on reusable UI foundations.
• Strong design system experience is valuable but not required.
• Proficient in React Native and building shared components across platforms.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across design, product engineering and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Build, evolve DDS platform components for React Native with clear APIs, tests and accessibility.
• Translate design intent and tokens into production-ready components.
• Improve developer experience through documentation, examples and tooling.
• Collaborate across iOS, Android, React Native and Web teams to keep DDS aligned.
• Lead through senior engineering craft: architectural judgment, code reviews, mentoring, and clear communication.
