Job summary

Tesco (Tesco UK) seeks a Senior Android Engineer to build and evolve the Digital Design System (DDS) for Android. You will create reusable components, ensure accessibility, and improve developer tooling and documentation across Tesco’s digital estate.

You’ll collaborate with design, product engineering, and DDS peers to keep experiences consistent and scalable, while leading with architectural judgment and mentoring across teams.

Qualifications

• Senior Android engineer with focus on reusable UI foundations and design-to-development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and evolve Android DDS components with clear APIs and accessibility support.
• Translate design intent and tokens into production-ready Android implementations.
• Improve developer experience via documentation, examples, onboarding, and migration tooling.
• Collaborate with design, accessibility, product engineering, and platform teams to align across Android, iOS, React Native and Web.
• Lead through senior craftsmanship: architectural judgment, code reviews, mentoring, and clear communication.
