Job summary

Aldwych Consulting in the West Midlands is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Cost and Commercial team. You will manage project costs, provide pre and post-contract services, and lead procurement and contractual negotiations across a diverse portfolio including education, commercial, industrial, retail and aviation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar relevant discipline is preferred.
• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a construction consultancy or cost management environment.
• Strong pre- and post-contract quantity surveying experience.
• Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Understanding of measurement methods including NRM.
• Chartered status with RICS or working towards chartership.
• Excellent commercial awareness, communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work across multiple projects.
• Proactive, personable and collaborative approach with a focus on developing colleagues and the wider business.

Responsibilities

• Cost Management: Manage project costs, review contractor applications and payments, and ensure financial targets are achieved.
• Pre and Post-Contract Services: Deliver a broad range of quantity surveying services throughout the project lifecycle.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and present regular cost reports, forecasts and commercial risk updates to clients and stakeholders.
• Procurement: Lead or support procurement processes, including tender preparation, bid evaluation and contractor appointments.
• Contract Administration: Manage contractual obligations, variations, change control and commercial negotiations (JCT/NEC).
• Risk and Value Management: Identify and mitigate commercial risks, support value engineering and optimise project outcomes.
• Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, project managers and internal teams.
• Team Support: Guide and support junior colleagues and contribute to team success.
• Business Development: Support bids, strengthen client relationships and help grow the regional Cost and Commercial practice.
