Job summary

Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution in Motherwell is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team supporting the SPEN Framework across the Central Belt. You will manage costs and income, ensuring governance and contractual compliance while mentoring junior commercial staff.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline.
• Chartered status (MRICS, MCIOB, MCInstCES) or working towards accreditation.
• Proven experience in infrastructure, utilities, power, civil engineering or major projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Excellent commercial, contractual and financial management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of projects to maximise value.
• Prepare, review and negotiate subcontract agreements and terms.
• Handle compensation events, variations, claims and entitlements.
• Produce accurate cost forecasts, CVRs and financial reports.
• Support procurement activities and supply chain management.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and valuations.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
• Provide commercial support to delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
• Analyse rates, prices and cost data to improve project value.
• Support claims preparation and negotiation when required.
• Mentor and develop Assistant and Quantity Surveyors.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes.
