Job summary

Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution in Scotland seeks a Quantity Surveyor to support the SPEN framework across the Central Belt. You’ll work from the Motherwell office, handling cost management, contract administration and commercial delivery across overhead line, substation and power transmission projects.

The role demands a degree in Quantity Surveying, NEC contract knowledge and strong communication. Chartered status or progress toward accreditation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or equivalent.
• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction, civil engineering or utilities.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and cost reporting processes.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects of projects from inception to final account.
• Produce accurate cost forecasts, cost value reconciliations and reports.
• Administer NEC contracts and ensure contract compliance.
• Procure, manage and develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Measure and value works per contract requirements.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities, schedules of rates and estimates.
• Support change control, compensation events and commercial risk.
• Review programmes and assess commercial impact of delays.
• Mentor junior commercial team members and liaise with clients and project teams.
